Grand Stade OL

Olympique Lyonnais is currently in an advanced stage of planning to build a new stadium that is going to replace the Stade Gerland.

The stadium is planned to have a capacity of 58,000 seats, of which 6,000 business seats. It will be 55 metres high and seats will be no further than 15 metres from the pitch.

The stadium will be built in the Lyon suburb Décines, in the west of the city. Its design is by architecture firm Populous. The club plans to sell the naming rights as part of a sponsorship deal.

The stadium is expected to be completed in the middle of 2014. The club is currently in the process of acquiring the land and a building permission, after which construction can begin in the middle of 2012.
