RheinEnergieStadion
The RheinEnergieStadion, which opened in 2004, was developed to provide the city of Cologne with a stadium that could host matches at the 2006 World Cup. It’s the home of 1. FC Köln.
The stadium was built at the site of the former Müngersdorfer stadium and has a capacity of 50,000, of which 8,175 standing places. This is reduced for international matches to 46,195 seats. The stadium has 48 VIP lodges and 1,800 business seats. It cost € 119.5 million to build.
The RheinEnergieStadion hosted 5 games during the 2006 World Cup, among which the round of 16 match between Switzerland and Ukraine.
Getting there
The RheinEnergieStadion is located in the west of Cologne, a good 6 kilometres from the city centre. It lies in the Stadtwald park in a residential area.
The stadium can be easily reached by car from the A1 motorway, which runs west from the city. Take exit 103 and follow the Aachener Straße east towards the city centre. After a little more than a kilometre the stadium will turn up on your right. Following the Aachener Straße further east will get you to the city centre of Cologne.
By public transport one can reach the stadium with tram (KVB) line 1. From station Neumarkt in the city centre it takes about 15 minutes to reach the stop RheinEnergieStadion. On matchdays special tram services connect the Hauptbahnhoff railway station and station Neumarkt with the stadium. The fare is included in the match ticket.

Tickets
Tickets can be bought online (in German) or by phone +49 (0) 1805 32 56 56. They can furthermore be bought at one of the FanShops or other selected outlets.
Prices for seats range from € 23.00 to € 59.00. A standing place costs € 16.00.
Stadium tours
Kölner Sportstätten offers stadium tours at the RheinEnergieStadion. The tours last 75 to 90 minutes and include a visit to the FC-Museum. The tours are offered on Saturdays at 2:00 pm, however when 1. FC Köln plays a home match on a Saturday the tour moves to Sunday.
